The use of timber within the Sunbeams Music Centre creates a warm and welcoming building. The extensive use of natural materials also provides essential acoustic control properties. Spruce glue laminated timber sourced from Norway is used for the structural frame. The cedar shingle cladding has been sourced from Canada. Larch, sourced from Siberia has been used for the soffit finish and internal ceiling finishes. Oak from France has been used for the window and door frames. European whitewood sourced from Norway has been used for the studwork and roof battens. Birch plywood sourced from Finland features within the wall and ceiling details.
